Tea and toast, see saw and quality sleep

31 12 2015

1. A little worse for wear after last night’s partying but tea and toast in bed helps.

2. A chilly park trip. Kirsty and her mate Jenson enjoy the see saw, although they need to extra ballast of a parent or two to make it work!

3. A very quiet evening in and a very good quality night’s sleep.

Tick, scones and knees up

30 12 2015

1. A quick whizz round Ightham Mote with NCT friends. They enjoy the tick sheets the most, ticking of the items they’ve seen as they go round the house, which is decorated to show Christmas from Victorian times.

2. National Trust cheese scones – when they’re good, they’re very good!

3. The Stephens Road annual knees up at the pub. Such a good laugh.

80th, panto and colouring

29 12 2015

1. Singing happy birthday down the phone to Grandad Peter on his 80th birthday.

2. Panto trip to see Cinderella with Doris’s brownie pack.

3. While the girls draw I have a go at my mindfulness colouring book – strangely therapeutic.

Bracing, post walk pint and Dude!

28 12 2015

1. To Birling Gap for a bracing

walk along the cliffs to the sea.

2. A well deserved post walk half pint in the pub at East Dean. Kirsty is fascinated with next door’s light up reindeer…

 3. Tonight’s film is Dude, where’s my donkey?! Silly but entertaining.

Party, Potter and port

27 12 2015

1. Our Birmingham contingent meet up is postponed so we can make it to Freddie’s party – soft play is the perfect activity for a grey day.

2. Post party watch of Harry Potter, one of Doris’s Christmas presents.

3. More Christmas cheese, with the last of the port.

Back to it, park and cheese

26 12 2015

1. Coffee and croissants before everyone has to leave, the garden table goes back in the garden and Christmas is over for another year.

2. A blow the cobwebs away quick trip to the park.

3. Eating up the Christmas cheese.

He’s been, fresh bread and family

25 12 2015

1. I love Christmas morning – the excitement, the ripping open of wrapping paper, the eating of selection box for breakfast.

 2. The local bakery (bicycle bakery) is open to collect our fresh bread and pastries order – amazing!

3. A wonderful family Christmas with all the Fletchers and all the usual trimmings and fun.

Nativity, crib service and getting ready for FC

24 12 2015

1. Isla and her mate Daphne put together the foam nativity set while I nurse a sore head with coffee.

 2. The St Luke’s crib service is always good fun. Kirsty joins in this year, dressing in an oversized shirt as a ‘wise man.’ Fellow wise man Isla guides her, while Doris plays the Inn keeper.

3. Putting out the goodies for Father Christmas and hanging up the stockings.

Early start, sale decs and dinner partay

23 12 2015

1. Mat’s unexpectedly off work so it’s nice to start the festive season early.

2. Making up the foam tree decorations I bought in the post Xmas sale last year and have only just found.

3. Dinner at good friends and neighbours’s. Top banter, an amazing nut roast pie, and flake trifle for pud – what’s not to like?

Insane outing, wooden and cake

22 12 2015

1. I take the girls to Insanity as the instructor says it’s ok. They dutifully sit in a row with iPads and snacks while I throw myself around. Doris sneakily takes videos and a picture of me!

2. Free wooden bauble making in the park. Doris’s Father Christmas looks very youthful.

 3. The yearly tradition of decorating the Christmas cake uncle Andrew has made with every decoration we own.
